Following the release of the larger Galaxy Note 10.1, Samsung has also updated its ‘smaller’ model to add a series of improvements.
The Galaxy Note 2 means Samsung now has three Note devices, all utilising the S Pen to add extra functionality to apps. In this case, the latest S Pen is almost one centimetre longer (at 11.3cm in length) and 7mm in thickness compared to 5mm, stowing away conveniently within the body of the device.
There’s improved performance from the 1.6GHz Exynos quad-core processor and a mighty 2 gigabytes of RAM. Not only does this mean the Galaxy Note 2 flies, it can now keep far more applications running at any one time to speed up task switching.
The Air View function allows you to do clever things, such as activate previews of picture album by merely holding the pen over the display (without touching), a feature that adds to the original features like selecting items, annotating documents and pictures, cutting out images from the screen (to email, edit or embed in your own documents), or creating drawings of your own.
Finally, the Galaxy Note 2 ships with Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) installed from the off, adding in the latest Google features, such as Google Now and notifications that can be expanded to convey additional information to users.
