Samsung Galaxy Grand added to Galaxy family

Samsung has announced the Galaxy Grand in its native South Korea, an Android Jelly Bean smartphone that comes with a 5-inch display, 8-megapixel camera and dual-SIM slots.

The handset isn’t a flagship model like the Galaxy S III or Note II (the announcement of the fourth Galaxy S is widely expected to take place in Spring 2013), but rather intended to be an affordable mid-range handset with a large display not usually available at such a price point.

The 5-inch screen (with a resolution of 480×800 pixels) enables users to take advantage of features like the Multi Window feature, letting you stack two independent Android applications on top of each other to increase productivity. Other features from the top-end models, such as S Voice, Popup Video and Smart Alerts are also included.

With its 1.2GHz dual-core processor and zero-lag camera shutter, the Galaxy Grand still offers an excellent specification for the money. The only question is whether it’s going to be released in the UK.

So far it’s too early to tell, but Samsung has issued the following statement: “Samsung UK availability of the Galaxy Grand is yet to be announced, a statement regarding UK launch confirmation will be made in due course.”

What do you think? Should Samsung bring this model to the UK? Let us know in the comments below.
